Communication and IT-Tools When starting your studies, you will have access to various digital platforms and tools. You can find an overview in the graphic below. The most important portals and tools are presented here. HSG Login: Your access to the digital infrastructure at the HSG If you are new to the HSG, you will be given your own HSG user account at the introductory events - the StartWeek for assessment students, the HSG Kick-off Days for Bachelor and Master students. The HSG Login gives you access to the campus computers, the campus WLAN, the IT tools and all communication platforms. In addition to the information here, you will receive a detailed introduction to our IT services during your first days at the HSG. It represents the entire virtual teaching environment and supports innovative digital teaching formats. You can attend lectures and courses that take place online via Zoom. Compass: Where you manage your studies (enrolment, bidding, grades, etc.) You can manage the most important administrative matters via Compass, including semester registration, course selection (bidding) and exam registration. In addition, documents relevant to your studies, such as your grade transcripts or semester invoice, will be sent directly to your Compass mailbox if you have agreed to electronic delivery. E-mail: Your most important contact address at the HSG Your HSG account is linked to your own email account. The mailbox has a storage capacity of 50 GB. The maximum size of a message (including attachment) is 25 MB. We use your HSG e-mail address for official communication purposes. We therefore recommend that you check your mailbox regularly. It is a password-protected portal for students. In the app you will find HSG and SHSG news, club events, the library seat finder and many other features. There are also many links to various services, so you can easily access the room booking platform, the University sports programme and the campus map, to name but a few. IT-Tools for your studies: Microsoft: Office 365 und Teams With your HSG account, you can use a variety of applications from Office 365, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Official tutorial for setting up the MFA Library and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) The library with its numerous databases is the university's central knowledge storehouse. The HSG is part of swisscovery, the Swiss-wide network of academic libraries. In order to be able to access our complete offer, including e-books and electronic journals, from outside the university network, you need a so-called Virtual Private Networking, or VPN in short. You can also access the internet free of charge at Swiss railway stations and many other hotspots. To do this, you first have to register a SWITCH edu-ID and then link it to your HSG account.
